Traffic Enforcement

The Albion Police Department began in 1975 with one officer.  Traffic enforcement was then and always has been one of the main functions of a Police Offiers patrol duties. The Albion Police Department investigates many automobile accidents each year. Local law enforcement agencies like the county sheriff's office investigate many more. Today, approximately  4 officers patrol nearly 10,000 miles a year of Albion streets and highways.  One of the functions of a Patrol Officer is to enforce Nebraska's traffic laws, including laws related to speeding. Nebraska statute 60-682.01 prescribes the following fines for speeding violations. It also prescribes that all fines are doubled if the speeding occurs in a "maintenance, repair, or construction zone." Drive at a steady speed and have a passenger start the watch when you pass a mile marker and stop it when you pass the next mile marker.
